Dan’s bio:  

I’m the founder of fundraising agency Better Story and VP of Advancement for a global non-profit, where I lead on major donor fundraising.   

Until 2023, I co-led the European branch of the global fundraising movement illumiNations. That involved organising and hosting prestigious events for philanthropists at venues such as Gleneagles, Hampton Court Palace and Stirling Castle, helping to raise over £7 million for the partner organisations. 

  • Prior to that, I was privileged to lead international charity The George Muller Charitable Trust in my hometown of Bristol during a period of growth and change.  

    During my time as CEO, we opened a custom-built museum, telling the story of our founder George Muller who cared for 10,000 orphans in the Victorian Era.

  • Yes, but you’ll need to book directly, cover your own costs, and there is no discount provided.

  • Sadly not, the course fees and fixed and non-negotiable. They’re also great value! 

  • No, you’ll need to make your own way to and from the hotel at your own cost. 

  • It’s hard to say, and there is no guarantee it will work for your charity. Most of our clients raise £10,000 quickly and go on to raise more than £50,000 and in some cases £100,000+.

    Some factors that make it more likely to succeed is:

    • Existing donors that have been underserved 

    • Good connections to potential major donors 

    • A supportive board and CEO

    • Strong charitable activity with measurable impact. 

    • A willingness to build longterm relationships with new and existing major donor s

    • The time to put into practice what you learn on the course.
