Is it too late to start your Christmas campaign?

It’s November, you haven’t got a letter to the printers, is it too late to do anything for Christmas?

Not if you have a decent email list and a story to tell! Here are some things to try:

Giving Tuesday

It’s on 3 December this year (2024). You don’t have to be officially involved - it’s just a great excuse of a day to email your supporters asking for Christmas donations. It’s the worldwide day of online giving, after all. You could launch your Christmas campaign today on email and social media, and talk about it all through December.

December

Yes, it’s better to get in earlier than this, and to use the postal system. But if you haven’t managed it, don’t despair. Charity giving goes up during December, the closer you get to Christmas. So keep talking about your campaign in the digital realm throughout the month.

The last Friday before Christmas often sees a spike in donations as people leave work feeling festive and cheerful, so hit that day with an email.

Christmas Eve

Research shows that this is the most generous day of the year, with everybody full of goodwill to all men. So make sure to email your supporters with a lovely message wishing them a happy Christmas and reminding them that they can still give to your cause.

Good luck!
